the IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT

NOSTALGIA IS A MICROORGANISM

THE IMPOSSIBLE PROJECTS has been instigated by Anna Tregloan as part of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance, Space and Design.

(you can find more about the australian exhibition at the quadrennial at pqau.com.au)

“The Impossible Project is a floating island of unrealised imagination, where ideas collected from a selection of artists, performers and creative producers connect with a new imagination:- that of an unwitting public now privy to ideas never before made public.

It is, most simply, a celebration of the imagination and talent of the artist.   It marks out that the projects that reach the public sphere are only a small portion of what is created.  It recognises that if all ideas became reality it might just mean we don't have enough ideas.”

NOSTALGIA IS A MICROORGANISM

1982 : an eleven year old girl

the family orchard

her favourite place

the brown decaying wormhole in the fruit

the crackle-patterned apple scab lesions

the rich ooze and swollen cankers of fireblight on the trunks on the leaves

the white felt-like fungal blooms of mildew

the concentric circles of black rot

the sweet smell of mould and infection and disease

the sweet like-nothing-else taste of an apple straight off the tree

beauty and decay
