NATURE DOESN’T END WHERE THE HUMAN BODY BEGINS (2021-

An interdisciplinary, collaborative project exploring the idea that when we humans imagine ourselves in any environment, we tend to place ourselves in a central position and nature becomes merely a backdrop to our existence. But nature doesn’t end where the human body begins. We are, like all other sentient beings and end-of-life cycle things, completely intertwined and inextricably part of it all.

This projects’ investigations - photographic, sculptural, installation - approach nature as both collaborator and medium. The development and creation of work does not revolve around bending nature to the artist’s will or imposing dominion upon it.

CHAPTER ONE: Nature is not a place to visit. It is Home (2021)

The first chapter of this new project is a series of photographic explorations in collaboration with dancer, Benjamin Hancock and cinematographer, Lucy Pijnenburg, emerging from the development of the work 3RD CONVERSATION.

With an initial intent of simply finding a better tool than my outdated iphone to document the work, I picked up a professional camera and began to explore the medium of photography. CHAPTER ONE: NATURE IS NOT A PLACE TO VISIT. IT IS HOME is the result of my first real foray into digital fine art photography.
