RECOMMENDED CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR ARCHIVAL PIGMENT PRINT

Working with specialist printers Hound & Bone Studio, Anastasia La Fey creates your fine art prints with the utmost care, and on the best materials available. With correct care they will last a lifetime.

All prints come with a 50-year replacement guarantee if the recommended care instructions are followed and the print is mounted archivally and framed with UV glass or perspex.

Key tips:

  • Archival sleeves and/ or sheets are provided to keep your print safe from dust, moisture, and any other nasties. To avoid damage to your print, keep it protected by this sleeve/ sheet until it is framed.

  • Try to keep handling to an absolute minimum. If you must handle your print, try to do so only by the edges/ handling margin. Always avoid touching the printed area, as fingerprints can leave a mark.

  • Use two hands to support your print so that it doesn’t bend. A crease in the print will be permanent.

  • Don't use your hands to wipe off any dust as this can scratch the printed area. Never blow on the print to remove dust - even the tiniest amount of moisture can affect the paper. If necessary you (or your framer) can use compressed air for dust removal.

  • Never place the print print-side-down on any surface. this can cause permanent scuff marks.

  • Keep your print away from direct bright light and humid environments.

FLATTENING ROLL PRINTS - KEY TIPS :

Large prints will arrive rolled. If you will be framing your print, hand it to your framer in the original package - hard as it is to resist the urge to unwrap it! If you must unroll your print/s, follow the below instructions

  • Find a flat, clean surface. Ideally, wear cotton gloves - next best is food-grade latex. If going nude, ensure that your hands are clean and perfectly dry.

  • Slide the paper band off your print and dispose of it promptly. Don’t unpick the tape - you don’t want any adhesive near your print.

  • Using two hands, unroll the print and place it print-side-up on the flat surface. Leave the archival sheeting on - reposition if necessary.

  • With the sheeting protecting the printed area, place a few smooth, flat, heavy objects on the ends of the print. Leave for a few hours.

  • Very Important: never roll the print in the opposite direction. This will damage the paper and the pigment.

  • If re-rolling your print, always roll it so the printed side faces out (as it was initially rolled). This follows the natural curl of the paper.
